It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year 🎄

That’s right, it’s December, which means Christmas is just right around the corner!  Now, this is something that I don’t normally partake in (Christmas decorating, that is) until after exams.  I’m very much so bah-hum-bug until the semester is officially over.  This year, however, I decided to celebrate early.  Shaugn and I decorated his apartment this past Saturday, and even went up to my parent’s home on Sunday to decorate their tree (Mom insisted that it was to be decorated by us as she drank red wine on the couch – “managing”).  All in all it was a great weekend to separate the end of classes and the beginning of stu(dying) for exams!

The big difference between Shaugn and myself when it comes to decorating is that I love simplicity, white crisp lights, and a more modern look, whereas Shaugn loves the different colours and more traditional decorations.  Last year, I surprised him by going out and buying lights to wrap around his deck, as well as some bows to tie to the posts (which have since blown away in the wind, RIP).

According to both Shaugn and my mother, my tree “floofing” skills are sub-par.

If this smile(?) doesn’t say holiday spirit, I don’t know what does…

Already planning on how is going to tear the tree down before we even finish putting it up.

Side Note: the tree lasted roughly 48 hours before ornaments started becoming toys.

One of my favourite things of spending the holidays with someone else is learning about their traditions and how Christmas was for them and their family.  This summer, Shaugn and his folks went on vacation to Cape Breton, and along the way his mom picked this up.  She intended on hiding it for him to find when it came time to decorate, but she ended up showing him where it was hidden before leaving (probably for fear that we would break it lol).  I’m so glad that Shaugn gets to go home to spend the holidays with his family, even if I will miss him like crazy until I head to Montreal for New Years.

Finally, we tried to get a “family” photo.  As potentially unsuccessful as this was, I am not surprised that the cat took this opportunity to show his love and affection for us (well, me.. Shaugn feeds him the most so he’s in the clear).

Hope everyone has as much fun as we did decorating and getting ready for the holidays!

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year 🎄

Hello, It’s Me

It’s been a snowy, and quite frankly gross, week on PEI.  With the roads being sub-par, adventuring in my little 2002 Jetta was probably not in my best interest.  So, I’ve decided to post yet another picture from the Hopewell Rocks (I know, I know, I’m sorry!).  But don’t worry, I am looking forward to getting out once this wet and yucky snow ends, and getting some pretty wintery pictures, and maybe even some festive ones as the holidays approach!  (PS kudos to Shaugn for actually taking this picture for me, xo).

Now, I know I can’t just post a picture of myself and call it day.  Instead, I have decided to do something similar to what I did in Shaugn’s post, and let you all know 10 different things about me!  Enjoy 🙂

  1. I want to by a physiotherapist when I “grow up” (whenever that happens…)
  2. If Shaugn has his way, we will have two dogs, a Boxer (his) and an Australian Shepard (mine)
  3. I have a Youth Olympic Bronze Medal in curling
  4. My (current) favourite past time is watching Gilmore Girls
  5. Although I said I would never need a coffee to get me going in the morning, it is best recommended that you do approach me before I am at least half way through my cup of joe in the mornings
  6. My favourite blog is The Uncommon Law
  7. I absolutely love the outdoors
  8. I want to someday travel to all different parts of the world
  9. I will only clean my room/apartment/Shaugn’s place while listening to 2000’s one-hit wonders
  10. Chocolate covered almonds are God’s gift sent from the heavens

Also, if you haven’t forgotten, this is still one of the best songs there ever.

Hello, It’s Me

Kid at Heart

Rule #34 in life: When asking your significant other to pose nicely for you, you should expect them to do something silly 97% of the time. (Don’t believe me? Check this out.)

As mentioned in a previous post, Shaugn and I were recently over to New Brunswick, and spent our morning hiking at the Hopewell Cape Park.  It was a great morning, with many silly pictures!

As this is (I believe) Shaugn’s first time officially being on the blog, I’ve decided to do something different! So here are 10 random facts about Shaugn.

  1. If you are on the island, you can listen to him weekday afternoons on the radio
  2. He is originally from the far away land of Montreal, and is persistently trying and failing to teach me French
  3. The puns will never end, and never really get any funnier
  4. Along with trying to teach me French, he has a degree in Music Performance (Classical Piano), and is succeeding at teaching me how to play
  5. He has a cat named Jack(ass), who he loves and hates more than most things
  6. Although he just turned 26, he acts 7, maybe 8, at best (please refer to picture above)
  7. His favourite shows are HIMYM, Friends, and Scrubs
  8. He will ruin almost every cute, loving, or serious conversation we try to have by cracking jokes or making a funny face
  9. He hates curling, but tolerates it around me
  10. He has the biggest heart and the kindest soul
