I have submitted two photos for the 2017 Picture the Island Contest. This contest runs every year, with the top 10 voted on photos advancing to the final round, where a panel of judges will pick the winner. I would really appreciate all the support I can get! I entered a picture from Mooney’s Pond, as well as a picture of Covehead Lighthouse. You can vote for as many pictures as you want, and you can vote for each picture once a day.
I would greatly appreciate any and all support I can get for this contest. And please, feel free to share this post, or either links, on any social media platform you decide.
Wow, what a winter we’ve had! I did have plans to go out and take pictures throughout the winter but I was literally stuck in my house for what feels like 90% of the last three months. By the time I was done shovelling my way out of the house, there was another storm. Although it would have been really cool to go get pictures of the crazy amount of snow we were getting, it wasn’t safe to me to go venture around, especially in my little old Jetta, so I chose to stay home and watch Netflix (oops).
With that being said, I do have my trip to St. John’s booked, which means there will be lots of pictures to be had there! I also am hoping to venture out of the city a little bit while I’m there, so hopefully everything works out and I will have lots to share with you! I’m also hoping (fingers crossed) to get some pictures of the Island this spring. Mind you, as being a poor student, work comes first, so as long as my work schedule doesn’t overwhelm me, I will try my hardest to get some pictures posted!
I hope you all have survived this winter, and I hope spring comes soon! And, also, don’t forget to subscribe to get updates about when posts are up!
With the Christmas holiday coming up, and me having more time on my hands, I really want your opinion on what you want to see on my blog! Please take a second and vote for what you would like to see on my blog, and your wishes might come true!
Oh, and did I mention, that you can vote for multiple things?! Happy voting 🙂
Hello Everyone! I am excited to say I have finally found what I am looking for as a theme to my blog. I am absolutely in love with the simplicity in this theme! I have been looking at different themes ever since I activated my last one. And, as much as I liked it, it was just too colorful and busy for me and what I wanted to display. Now, you can really focus on the content of the post, as opposed to what is surrounding it!
As always, with a new theme, comes a new layout. I am still working out some of the details, but now you can access everything through the sidebar, which can be found by clicking the three horizontal lines found in the top right corner of your screen. There, you will find my archives, categories for posts, most used tags, links to all my social media, and a calendar.
Hopefully with my midterms over, and a new inspiration, I can finally finish the pictures I took while on Fogo Island, NF, this summer. The pictures are honestly beautiful, and I would go back to Fogo in a heartbeat! I also know that, as much as I love photography and I want to keep up with this blog, school ultimately comes first. I also still have so many pictures left from my session with Meaghan this summer that I haven’t even touched yet! So hopefully sometime before December these will all be posted!
Thank you to all my wonderful readers and followers! You’re the best!
So I just wanted to clarify that no, I did not fall off a rock cliff in Newfoundland and plummet to my death – I have just been bombarded with school and work ever since I got back! I thought that taking the first three days off school to stay in Newfoundland a little longer was a great idea, and in some ways it was.. however, now I am under a huge pile of books with no way out. My plan was to post pictures from Fogo Island every other day, but since I got home it has been non-stop with organizing my room, trying to get caught back up in school, and working. Oh, to add to that ever-growing list of things I have to do, my photoshop actually crashed on me, and with my super-techy boyfriend being a 1000 kms away (it is actually exactly 1000 km, which I think is super cool) it is taking a little bit longer to fix than I had planned. I really want to share with you all the adventures, but I just don’t have the time right now! So I am hoping that everything will settle down here by mid-next week and I can start working on the pictures. I also have a couples session to get through (sorry it’s not up yet guys!), so you may even get to see those first! And I have a bunch of iPhone pictures to upload… holy crap.
With that being said, I hope you all enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer we are having, and to those who are in my situation right now, you are not alone.. even if you feel super alone like me.
Hello everyone! So, as most of you already know I am always updating things around my blog, rearranging certain items and trying to find the best spot for everything. Well, I was at it again tonight and I changed two things that I think I should make you all aware of!
First, there is now drop-down menus to view certain pages. Not sure what this means? Basically I have organized everything into pages instead of putting all the pictures in one section and you having to click on the picture to view the entire session/category. How this works is when you go to the circle with the three little lines that you see in the menu bar (the first circle on the left) and click on it, it gives you a selection of areas that you can go to. If you hover your cursor over one of these areas, more options will appear for you to choose from! I think this just looks a little cleaner and keeps everything organized!
Second, I have created a gallery. For this, I have taken one picture from each session/category that I have and put them all in one place! I kind of like this because it gives you an opportunity to catch a little glimpse of everything I do all in one page! And also, if you click on the picture to enlarge it, the link to the original post is in the description if you wanted to visit it. I also really enjoy the mosaic pattern that I have chosen for it. To find the gallery, just simply go to the circle with the three lines in it (as describe above) and click gallery!
I hope this doesn’t confuse too many of you, as this was done to help simplify and organize everything. I have also moved where you can follow my blog by email to the sidebar on the right hand side of the main page (simply scroll down to find it). Also, don’t forget to “like” me on Facebook and check me out on Flickr to see even more of my work!
So, most of you know that my boyfriend lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Although it sucks not seeing him, I am officially counting down the days until I see him again! Today I booked my flights to see him at the end of the summer, and I am super excited for this trip because we are going to venture up to Fogo Island! Jeff has been there twice already, but this will be my first time heading to the biggest island off the Newfoundland coast. Jeff’s most recent trip was just last week, so here is a sneak peak of what I will be seeing and taking pictures off in just over a month. I am just so excited to see this beautiful place, and finally get to capture it myself!
To see his wonderful pictures simply click on the link, and continue to click right!
